Edinburgh’s Electric Spirits Co. began production in 2015, led by Scottish distiller James Porteous. The business launched in Leith, the traditional home of distilling in the Scottish capital, revitalising an industry which had lain dormant here for over forty years.
An award-winning graduate of Glasgow School of Art, James Porteous undertook the prestigious Brewing and Distilling MSc at Heriot Watt University before turning his attention from craft beer to gin. The Electric Spirits Co. came to life in Leith’s old James Dunbar lemonade factory, where their signature Achroous Gin was born. A modern take on a classic London dry, Achroous has since become extremely well-renowned, regularly receiving gold medals in top international spirits competitions.
