Description

Four generations from when Davis Hogue made whiskey on his land, his legacy is honoured by his great-granddaughter, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. With a distinctive taste profile that delights both seasoned whiskey connoisseurs and new enthusiasts, SirDavis is on a mission to redefine the category and invite new consumers to feel welcome to participate in the world of luxury whiskey. SirDavis combines the complexity of rye with the elegance of malted barley and is finished in sherry casks for a harmonious blend of spice and fruit in each sip. It is proudly finished, blended and bottled in Texas.

Tasting note

Tasted blind, this is a delectable example of rye, with the assured hand of a master maker on the tiller. Sweetly spiced buns, cinnamon balls and vivid red liquorice laces are all at play here, with an astute sideline of leafy cereal and peach skin providing both balance and intrigue. There’s chewy, warmed malt loaf on the palate, spread thickly with homemade brandy butter, dripping salt crystals and plump raisins. The finish is nigh-on irresistible!

SirDavis Whiskey

SirDavis Whiskey

Four generations after Davis Hogue made whiskey on his land, his legacy is honoured by his great-granddaughter, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. With a distinctive taste profile that delights both seasoned whiskey connoisseurs and new enthusiasts, SirDavis is on a mission to redefine the category and invite new consumers to feel welcome in the world of luxury whiskey.

Crafted with five-time International Whisky Competition Master Distiller of the Year, Dr. Bill Lumsden, SirDavis offers a one-of-a-kind taste profile that redefines the taste of American whiskey with inspiration from Japanese and Scottish styles. In an evolution from category norms, the SirDavis mash bill includes 51% rye and a noteworthy 49% barley. The spirit’s secondary maturation in sherry casks resulted in its silky, sophisticated profile with layers of dark red fruits and spices like clove and cinnamon. This duality of rounding out rye’s characteristically spicy notes with structured flavours of juicy red fruit offers an entirely new interpretation of this spirit, suitable for connoisseurs and newcomers alike.

The award-winning liquid received Platinum and was named Best In Class by the 2023 SIP Awards, 95 points and Gold from the 2023 New York International Spirits Competition, and 93 points from the 2023 Ultimate Spirits Challenge. SirDavis is finished, blended, and bottled in Knowles-Carter’s home state of Texas.

When is a wine ready to drink?

We provide drinking windows for all our wines. Alongside the drinking windows there is a bottle icon and a maturity stage. Bear in mind that the best time to drink a wine does also depend on your taste.

Not ready

These wines are very young. Whilst they're likely to have lots of intense flavours, their acidity or tannins may make them feel austere. Although it isn't "wrong" to drink these wines now, you are likely to miss out on a lot of complexity by not waiting for them to mature.

Ready - youthful

These wines are likely to have plenty of fruit flavours still and, for red wines, the tannins may well be quite noticeable. For those who prefer younger, fruitier wines, or if serving alongside a robust meal, these will be very enjoyable. If you choose to hold onto these wines, the fruit flavours will evolve into more savoury complexity.

Ready - at best

These wines are likely to have a beautiful balance of fruit, spice and savoury flavours. The acidity and tannins will have softened somewhat, and the wines will show plenty of complexity. For many, this is seen as the ideal time to drink and enjoy these wines. If you choose to hold onto these wines, they will become more savoury but not necessarily more complex.

Ready - mature

These wines are likely to have plenty of complexity, but the fruit flavours will have been almost completely replaced by savoury and spice notes. These wines may have a beautiful texture at this stage of maturity. There is lots to enjoy when drinking wines at this stage. Most of these wines will hold in this window for a few years, though at the very end of this drinking window, wines start to lose complexity and decline.
