2018 Champagne Crété Chamberlin, C.D.B, Blanc de Blancs, Grand Cru, Brut Nature

Description

This is Crété Chamberlin’s calling card, with fruit sourced from two great Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs: Oger and Les Mesnil. Some of the vines here date back to 1953. 2018 was a solar vintage, and you can feel the generosity in this wine: a pure expression of terroir with no malolactic fermentation and 100% stainless steel fermentation. All wines were hand-riddled, and four years were spent on lees.

The colour is pale, summery gold, and the nose is of vibrant white flowers, orchard fruits, and subtle hints of tropical zest and chalk. The mousse is silky and fine, and the finish is long and linear, with a firm mineral zip, bright fruit, and toasty character. Pure and energetic, this Champagne is perfect to drink now and offers amazing value.

They are unquestionably the finest dry white wines in the world. Chardonnay plays a crucial role in the Champagne blend, providing structure and finesse, and is the sole grape in Blanc de Blancs.
