The best vineyards are entitled to the appellation of Premières Côtes de Blaye. It is a large appellation, capable of producing over two million cases of wine each year. The port of Blaye itself is worthy of a visit, and there is a small ferry which connects the port with Lamarque on the Left Bank, removing the need for a detour via the city of Bordeaux.
