Bordeaux En Primeur is a little different this year. Normally, we would send a team of around 30 to the region over three weeks, who would taste the wines in situ with their makers. This year, that is simply not possible: you can read more about how we’re doing our best to replicate these conditions in an age of social distancing below.

But what of the vintage? From what we’ve tasted so far, the 2019s are excellent. The wines combine the ripeness and concentration of 2018 with a freshness that reminds us of 2015. The result is a classical style of Bordeaux that offers both accessibility and ageing potential.
