Prosecco is the perfect summer fizz, and this is an excellent example, with beautifully defined white peach and pear fruit, and a caressing rather than aggressive mousse. The Ferraro family make this wine in the classic “spumante” style, adding just enough cane sugar at the second fermentation stage to provide the bubbles and leave a well-judged 16g per litre of sugar (hence the “Extra-Dry” rather than more austere “Brut” designation) that accentuates the fruit and acts as a foil to the natural acidity of the wine. Making a Bellini with this wine, whilst undoubtedly delicious, is almost a crime when it is so good “naked”.
Martin Hudson MW Put bluntly: the difference between drinking this deliciously soft, spritely flowing white flower and greengage fruited Prosecco wine and that of a branded competitor is akin to sleeping on Egyptian cotton versus polyester sheets! Right from the off you know you’re being treated to the real thing by the way this wine offers you clean fresh fruit on the nose; like staring into a mountain stream. And so it tumbles from the nose to the mouth, an endless roll of pure pulpy fruit, in exquisite harmony with the fresh white limestone and floral notes; the 16 grams of residual sugar perfectly interwoven as to be hidden. And for those armed with an iPhone, you can download the wine’s particulars by scanning the back label motif! David Berry Green A deliciously soft and spritely white flower and greengage-fruited Prosecco with perfectly interwoven 16g residual sugar, so finishing off-dry. Edwin Dublin, London Shop

A sleeper of the vintage, it is an attractive, subtle, medium-bodied Bordeaux with already emerging complexity, plenty of mulberry and black cherry fruit, sweet tannin, and a surprisingly long finish. It should drink well for 7-8 years.Robert M. Parker - Wine Advocate - Apr 2013

As far as supply is concerned it’s a topsy turvy position in 2012. Overall, Ben has made plenty of wine but some cuvées are missing this year. The best volumes are with the Chassagne-Montrachet Premiers Crus, which are always a strong point chez Benjamin. From a standing start in 2007 Benjamin has made truly exciting progress, and has grown his business a little more quickly than expected as great opportunities have come his way. Yet each year he still doesn’t seem to have quite enough wine to satisfy demand. Wines marked † are bottled under stelvin screwcap closures.
