In 2002 Daniel J. Donahoe, one-time Silicon Valley techy and roaming wine auctioneer, teamed up with Alexis Woods, his wife, landscape gardener, and daughter of Frank Woods, founder of Clos du Bois winery, to create Teira wines, named after their daughters Thea and Keira.
Drawing on prime Sonoma County, ex Clos du Bois Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot vineyards from the Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys, and aided by the experienced hands of viticulturalist Duff Bevill and winemaker Bill Knuttel (of Dry Creek Vineyard, Healdsburg), Daniel and Alexis have grown their business to several thousand cases
Their wines are made at the Dry Creek Vineyard winery, with 25% new American oak used for ageing the Zinfandel .
