Maurice Gaget has 3.5 hectares of vines on the south facing side of Morgon's Côte-du-Puy. The soil here is granite-based and this is where the most concentrated and powerful Morgons are found.
Maurice and his son Mikael pick the grapes at optimum ripeness and then vinify them in cement cuves. The wines are then matured in oak foudres for between 8 and 14 months before being bottled.
This is powerful Beaujolais, yet smooth with no hint of coarse tannins.
