Château de Marbuzet is a Cru Bourgeois property in St. Estèphe owned by the Prats family, who until 1998 owned Château Cos d`Estournel. For years Marbuzet wines were blended with the lesser cuvées of Cos and it served as a 2nd wine to the latter. However in 1994 the Prats family created Pagodes de Cos and Marbuzet is now vinified and bottled separately.
Marbuzet has 7 hectares of vineyards and the wine is now a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 12% Petit Verdot. It is matured in 2nd-fill barriques from Cos d`Estournel for 12 months.
Rounded, elegant and ultra-smooth, Marbuzet wines usually need 4-5 years of bottle ageing to show at their best.
