Château Nairac, a 2éme Cru Classé estate is one of the stars of Barsac. It has a long and illustrious history but the key date in its recent history is 1972 when it was purchased by Nicole Tari and her American husband, Tom Heeter.
Through considerable endeavour and investment they managed to produce wines on a par with many of the 1st Growths - today Nairac is run by Nicole and her son Nicholas.
Nairac`s 17 hectares of vineyards adjoin those of Climens and are planted with 90% Sémillon, 7% Sauvignon Blanc, and 3% Muscadelle. The wine is fermented in wooden casks (50% new) and then matured in oak barrels for 18-30 months.
Nairac displays wonderful elegance, balance and purity, allied with richly botryised fruit. It has considerable cellaring potential.
