Description
The Symingtons of Scottish, English, and Portuguese descent have been Port producers in northern Portugal since 1882. For 5 generations they have combined their passion for producing fine wines and ports with a deep commitment to the region’s land and people.
It is therefore with great excitement that, after a brief hiatus, we are once again hosting a Port event at Berry Bros. & Rudd in collaboration with the Symington Family. Join us in our Sussex Cellar on Tuesday 28th November for a walkaround tasting of a selection of exceptional wines from Dow’s, Warre’s, Graham’s and Quinta do Vesuvio.
The evening will commence with a White Port & Tonic aperitif on the mezzanine level, followed by a short standing masterclass hosted by Charles Symington. The focus of this tasting will be the evolution of Vintage and Tawny Port over recent decades, with guests being poured Warre’s Vintage 1980, Graham’s 40YO Tawny, Graham’s Library Release Vintage 1994 and Graham’s Single Harvest Tawny 1997.
Thereafter, guests will be invited to taste wines at six stations around the cellar, with some rarer Ports even coming from the Berry Bros. & Rudd Family Reserves. For the more seasoned Port aficionado, there will also be a blind tasting table where you can put your tastebuds to the test and possibly win a bottle of Vintage Port.
The below wines will be available to taste on the evening. As is always the case with older wines, we may need to substitute wines in the list subject to their condition upon opening and we apologise in advance if the line-up is amended.
