One Day Wine School
Our one-day wine schools are a great way to get a thorough overview of a region in a day.
Starting in the morning with tea and coffee on arrival, we spend around 2 hours exploring the region, with 8-12 wines showcasing all different styles. With the basics covered, we head to our vaulted Napoleon cellar for an aperitif and to put the morning’s education to the test with 5 more wines paired over a delicious lunch, crafted by Head Chef Stewart Turner.
The day finishes around 3.30pm.

Description
Join us on a journey throughout the USA’s leading wine regions led by fine wine specialist, Michael Dabbs. Famously, the fortunes of American wines were turned by the 1976 Judgement of Paris Tasting, where Californian wines beat some of the greatest wines of France in a blind tasting. Today there is no doubt of California and the Pacific Northwest’s pedigree, and they are cherished wine regions for many a collector. Along with classic Bordeaux-styled red wines from Napa, you’ll discover the brilliantly balanced Chardonnays of Santa Barbara and Sonoma County, to the sleek and elegant Pinot Noirs of Oregon’s Willamette Valley and many more besides.
The day will begin with a two-hour morning masterclass, followed by an indulgent lunch in the Sussex cellar. Four dishes prepared by our Executive Chef, Stewart Turner will be thoughtfully paired with wines of exceptional calibre, from some of North America’s finest producers.
