Description

Our One-Day Introductory Wine School is a relaxed yet educational experience, designed to introduce you to the basics of wine tasting and the classic grape varieties. Your tutor will guide you through different pairs of wines that will be served blind, helping you to compare and contrast them. You will be encouraged to think about your observations, linking these to the climate and country where the grapes were grown. We will cover all the elements in the glass, from acidity and ripeness through to tannin, alcohol, oak and age. At the same time, we will look at the key grape varieties and the regions in which you’ll most commonly encounter them. You will learn to trust your intuitions – and you may discover that you know far more than you gave yourself credit for.

The morning tutorial is followed by a wonderful four-course food and wine-matching luncheon, during which you will have the chance to practice your newfound tasting skills.

Wines to be tasted: the exact line-up of wines for this tasting is still to be determined and will be published closer to the time of the event.

One Day Wine School

One Day Wine School

Our one-day wine schools are a great way to get a thorough overview of a region in a day.

Starting in the morning with tea and coffee on arrival, we spend around 2 hours exploring the region, with 8-12 wines showcasing all different styles. With the basics covered, we head to our vaulted Napoleon cellar for an aperitif and to put the morning’s education to the test with 5 more wines paired over a delicious lunch, crafted by Head Chef Stewart Turner.

The day finishes around 3.30pm.
