South Africa Fine Wine Dinner, Wednesday 5th June 2024

South Africa is making serious waves in the fine wine world. Today, merchants and consumers alike are recognising the immense diversity and quality on offer from this fascinating country. 

This special dinner will commence with an exceptional Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blend from the supremely talented Cape Town-based winemaker, Duncan Savage, who was awarded the prestigious accolade of Tim Atkin MW’s 2023 Winemaker of the Year. 

Next will be a comparison of two rich and textural white blends based on the Western Cape’s signature grape variety, Chenin Blanc, including Berry Bros. & Rudd’s own collaboration wine made by one of South Africa’s leading winemakers, Eben Sadie. 

We will then compare two Syrah wines made by the Mullineux family that showcase the influence of the specific geologies, in this case Granite and Iron, found in the respective single vineyards from which the fruit is sourced. 

Our final pairing will include a deep, rich Cabernet Franc-based blend from South Africa’s premium red winemaking region, Stellenbosch, and a cool, leafy Cabernet Sauvignon from the lesser-known Hemel-en-Aarde.

To conclude the evening we will taste the world-renowned Vin de Constance sweet wine produced by Klein Constantia.
