The 1992 vintage was an excellent year of seductive and complex wines for California. Spring was warm and flowering occurred two weeks earlier than normal. The first half of summer was unsettled but the weather was nigh on perfect throughout most of July and all of August.
Harvesting for white varieties began early and some excellent Chardonnays were produced, especially in Sonoma. Pinot Noir was successful throughout Carneros and the Napa Valley. The Cabernet Sauvignons are forward and ripe with the best examples being well structured and possessing very good cellaring potential.
