Loch Lomond is a Highland Malt and is part of Scotland's largest and most diverse whisky-making region. The distillery's history goes back to at least 1772, with the founding of Littlemill distillery—Scotland’s oldest licensed distillery. In 1814, the original site of the distillery was established near Tarbet towards the northwest end of Loch Lomond. The current distillery has been in place since 1965.
Unlike many distilleries that focus on one particular style, Loch Lomond works with variety. The distiller has typical Swan Neck stills and unique Straight Neck stills for making Malt Whisky. In addition, they have a grain distillery and their own in-house cooperage. The result is a range of whiskies and styles like no other, and in 2023, Loch Lomond was crowned ‘World’s Most Awarded Distillery’ at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The current Master Blender is Michael Henry. Michael is responsible for creating the single malt range and single grain whiskies, focusing on maturation, blending and bottling. Michael originally joined Loch Lomond as a warehouse manager and eventually took on the blending responsibilities for the company.
