Kyrö, Malt Rye Whisky, Finland (47.2%)

Spices redolent of continental baked goods shine forth from this Finnish treat, with dark oak aromas emerging after time in the glass. Most rye whiskies are made with unmalted rye; however, our friends at Kyrö have opted for malted to increase depth and complexity. Their Malt Rye Whisky fills the mouth with savoury notes from the grain, and sweetness from oak. As with the greatest Rye bottlings, savouriness has the upper – but not overwhelming – hand. Excellent after dinner, although a small pre-prandial measure is a splendid awakener for the appetite!
