Description

Look beyond Provence, and you’ll find a wealth of exciting and distinctive styles of rosé. Our six-bottle mixed case brings together just three of those styles, from Daniel Chotard’s Sancerre rosé to Faraone’s deliciously dark Cerasuolo.

This mixed case contains two of the following wines:

2019 Sancerre Rosé, Daniel Chotard, Loire

This charming Sancerre rosé comes from Pinot Noir grapes grown on pebbly griottes soil; it’s this, a type of limestone, to which Simon Chotard attributes the wine’s finesse and floral aromas. Raised in stainless steel and bottled young, freshness is the order of the day. There’s a touch more weight here than you’re likely to find in a rosé from, say, Provence, so the wine works well with chicken, pork and even delicate red meat dishes. Drink now to 2022.

2020 Le Vigne, Montepulciano, Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, Faraone, Italy

Cerasuolo is Italy’s most famous rosé, but it rarely makes it out of Abruzzo such is the local demand. This is one of the region’s finest examples, from a traditional pergola vineyard planted in 1981. The skins macerate for one night with the juice, giving a vibrant, cherry-like hue. This is followed by a slow, cold, 10-day fermentation. The nose is enticing: Pinot-esque, with wild, floral perfume and explosive berry-fruit charm. The palate bridges a style between rosé and light reds. Crunchy, tangy and dangerously moreish, enjoy this with sunshine and grilled tuna steaks. Ready to drink now.

2017 Raventós i Blanc, De Nit Rosé, Brut, Penedès, Spain

Made in the same way as Champagne, the De Nit Rosé spends 18 months on its lees; the result is a toasty nose of brioche, alongside hints of strawberry and fennel. Xarel·lo and Parellada, both indigenous varieties, add a refreshing herbal and pithy character, especially on the palate. The finish is layered, with a delicate core of salinity and lingering wet stone minerality. This would be perfect as an apéritif with smoked salmon blinis, or with light starters. Ready to drink now.
