Loupiac

Loupiac belongs to a cluster of less-known appellations in Bordeaux that specialise in the production of sweet wines from a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Although on the opposite bank from Sauternes, the soils and weather conditions are apt for producing wines by botrytis cinerea. Only 370 hectares are under vine and the wine is a delicious, if simple but good value alternative to Sauternes.
