A year that has produced some elegant and well-balanced wines that have matured relatively quickly. The weather was very encouraging during spring and summer with August being very warm and dry. However, September was very wet and stormy and rot and dilution became serious hazards. In the Northern Rhône the most dedicated and quality-conscious growers have produced some surprisingly soft, ripe and attractive wines which are all drinking well now.

In the Southern Rhône the wines display good colour and soft tannins and are mainly for early consumption.
