Traditionally, Bordeaux’s white wines are overshadowed by the region’s famous reds, but recent years have seen a shift among Bordelais vignerons. Our six-bottle collection is perfect if you’re already familiar with this style, or if you’re looking to explore something new.
This mixed case contains two bottles of each of the following wines:
2018 G de Château Guiraud, Bordeaux
Guiraud is synonymous with Sauternes, but this dry white shows the same class and complexity as you find in its famous sweet wines. It's an equal blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, packed with spiky gooseberries and nettles, rich tropical tones and creamy herbal and hay notes. Long and textural with lifted grapefruit acidity.
2019 Château la Garde Blanc, Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux
The 2019 La Garde Blanc is ripe and fleshy, with white peaches and citrus fruits leaning towards exotic fruit. The Sauvignon Blanc is blended with 11% Sémillon, which brings texture and a taut lemon crunch to the mid-palate. A chalky minerality evokes the château’s limestone-dominant soils. This is crisp, fresh, balanced and with only a subtle hint of oak. A very fine example of white Pessac-Léognan, this is charming enough to be enjoyed solo, but sufficiently complex to accompany a summer meal
2019 Château Langlet Blanc, Graves, Bordeaux
This 100% Sauvignon Blanc oozes restrained decadence. Ripe and tropical, it packs in layers of gooseberries, passionfruit, apricots and sherbet-like citrus fruits. This fruity exuberance is matched on one hand by its rich and glossy texture, and on the other by its zest acidity and a subtly herbaceous twist, bringing complexity and balance to the finish. Its varietal origins are unmistakable: although it is richer than some of its New Zealand cousins, it also receives a lighter oak treatment than some of its Bordeaux counterparts. This is distinctive, mouth-watering and delicious. Drink now to 2025.
