Dugat-Py

Dugat-Py is a prestigious Gevrey-Chambertin domaine that has gained considerable acclaim over the past decade. Originally overseen by Pierre Dugat, the estate began bottling its own wines in 1989. Today, it is managed by his son, Bernard Dugat-Py, who is recognised as one of the most skilled winemakers on the Côte d'Or. The domaine spans 5 hectares of vineyards, including several Premier Cru sites and three Grand Crus, with vines averaging 65 years old.

The family—Bernard, his wife Joscelyne, and their son Loïc—operates from the historic Aulmônerie, a 12th-century cellar originally used to store wine for the Abbey of St. Benigné in Dijon. The domaine’s success is rooted in its meticulous vineyard management, with five full-time workers tending to 10 hectares of vines. All vineyard work is done by hand; a horse is used for ploughing in some areas. The estate has been fully organic since 2003, and Loïc has introduced some biodynamic practices under the guidance of consultant Paul Masson.

In recent years, Dugat-Py has expanded into the Côte de Beaune, adding Pommard and white wines from Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet to their offerings. The domaine's wines have received widespread praise, particularly from the United States, earning Dugat-Py a reputation as a cult producer. These wines are known for their approachability in youth, yet they truly shine with 5-8 years of bottle ageing, offering a refined expression of Burgundy's terroir.
